Aarti oversees the executive management of the organisation, directs its philosophical orientation, designs its major projects and provides strategic oversight to client consultancy services.
Aarti has over 30 years of professional experience, including 25 years working on human rights issues, with a focus on forced labour, human trafficking and child exploitation. She is a qualified lawyer in both the UK (England and Wales) and the US (New York state), as well as a trained Organisational Analyst. Her experience spans leadership positions in the UK and South East Asia across government, NGOs and corporate agencies as well as assignments in Eastern Europe and Africa.
Since setting up Embode in 2015, Aarti has overseen the growth and strengthening of a strong global client portfolio globally and across multiple agricultural and manufacturing sectors . in the highly specialised areas of labour rights, child protection and migration. She has directly led Embode’s seminal studies and strategiesc in the areas of cocoa and palm oil supply chains, on issues from child labour to labour migration. Aarti now focuses on strengthening Embode’s expert team and strategic consultancy in getting to the root of tenacious human rights issues, and facilitating systems-based solutions that are appropriate in context. Aarti sits on a number of expert advisory boards on business and human rights, including Cocoa Horizons, and previously a member of the Board of Trustees for the NGO THIRST – The Roundtable on Sustainable Tea.
