Bonsucro Spotlight Session: Building Resilient Sugarcane Supply Chains

Organised by Bonsucro, the session is dedicated specifically to the sugarcane industry and will present a unique opportunity to showcase the sector’s perspectives, challenges, and collaborative efforts on responsible business conduct and human rights. Our Managing Director, Aarti Kapoor will deliver Embode’s extensive experience strengthening HRDD in the sugarcane industry, including delivering the Bonsucro Training on Grievance Mechanisms and Responsible Recruitment.

Realising a Just Transition: closing the gap between corporate ambition and contextual realities

Organised by the Business and Human Rights Centre, this session will explore the disconnect between corporate policy commitments and the lived realities of suppliers and workers. Aarti Kapoor will deliver how corporate ambitions without supplier capability building, understanding of local contexts and shared accountability can cause more harm than good.
The Panel will also include Nandita Shivakumar (Open Supply Hub), Lisa Ramershoven (STTI – Sustainable Terms of Trade Initiative), Farhana Jubaida Urmee (Karmojibi Nari) and Aine Clarke as the moderator(BHRRC).
The Sustainable Value Chain is organised by Centre for Responsible Business and convenes businesses, multilateral institutions, civil societies and policymakers, particularly those stakeholders from the Global South, to discuss how we can co-create an equitable and resilient value chain. We are co-hosting the panel in collaboration with Centre for Responsible Business and Good Business Lab.
